To Protect Your Garden from Animals

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Well it is that time again. Gardens are beginning to thrive and animals are starting to eat the the plants you've worked hard on. No matter what we try at our house we've never had any luck with keeping animals at bay. Dorothy Morrison lists a spell I wouldn't mind trying in her book "Everyday Magic".

She says to stuff old pantyhouse with human hair while chanting "Deter all wildlife from this place so that this garden thrives in grace." Then knot both ends of the pantyhouse to form pouches and place at the corners of your garden. Those that seek to eat vegetables will not cross into the area.

Happy gardening!

Wildflower Extracts Easily Kill MRSA Superbug

Sunday, June 8, 2008

I think this story is an interesting one. I've been hearing quite a bit about the MRSA superbug lately. Several cases in my state and even around me in schools. It's amazing at how quickly it spreads and how it just cannot be killed.

So to hear that wildflower extracts, more importantly, the extracts of horse-heal,helenium, and pasque flower easily kill the bug is amazing news, especially amazing since people feel that natural products aren't affective in doing anything at all.

Does your sunscreen harm fish?

I'm not a big water fan, but I do occasionally swim. Sometimes I do wear sunscreen. New studies have found that certain chemicals in sunscreen can harm the coral that tropical fish need to live. So before you dive into the ocean this summer, check your cabinets for anything containing paraben, cinnamate, benzophenone and a camphor derivative.

Life Update

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Life has been crazy the past few months. My school year ended so I moved back home in early May. I've been taking a break from doing anything big online until recently when my online class began. I'm working towards my directors credential for daycare/preschool centers.

There's been a lot of personal drama as of late too. My mother has gotten herself into yet another mess that's really weighing heavily on my nerves and she's been trying to pull me into the mess when I'd just rather be left out of it. People don't listen however and would rather not listen to what you ask.

We have been blessed with many new animals here. Our cats had kittens. We did lose one a few weeks ago but we have five precious ones in our house and 6 outside from a stray. It's a madhouse here lately with all the pets. My poor mouse however lost his cage mate as he was old and sick so it's really a relief that he's not suffering anymore.

I hope to return with more information soon. Better than my boring life update!
